OUTFITS: leg tattoos & stripes

These photos are from about 2 weeks ago when the weather in London was so lovely (unfortunately we're back to clouds and rain atm), so my cousin and I took advantage of the sun and put together an outfit featuring a recent DIY.

(click on the photo for details on each piece)

Excuse the cat face and yes I have slightly ombre-ed my hair again.
My cousin made me some tattoo tights so I will put up a post on how to DIY some soon; but they're pretty simple to make.

My cousin's outfit:

Cardigan Uniqlo // Dress Uniqlo // Socks Uniqlo // Shoes Vintage

These were all shot in the new house which still isn't quite finished yet, hence the roughed up flooring. But I really like the white walls and the lighting was fabulous - barely had to edit any of these photos in that sense. The house should be finished within a week or two and I just hope that even after putting in all the furniture, I'll still have a bit of white wall to shoot against.

SPRING TRANSITION: dodgy weather

Spring finally seems to have come around in London, but even so, the weather keeps flicking back and forth between sunny days and miserable clouds and rain. So I've come up with 2 similar outfits so that y'all are prepared for whatever weather. I've kept most of the key pieces in both outfits but switched some of the accessories so that you're weather appropriate.

I chose this dress so that you're dressing for spring with the floral pattern but are still maintain some elements from the winter season so that you're not jumping straight into spring but are easing yourself into it.

This is Spring?
This outfit is for those days where it's pretty cloudy outside and you might feel a bit silly going bare legs and wearing super bright colours. Put on a pair of tights and a lightweight scarf to make sure you stay warm. I opted for black accessories to match the weather but put on a light wash denim jacket to break up the black and stop you from looking too gloomy. (Oh and you can't forget an umbrella - not in London at least!)

This is Spring!
For those days when the sun has finally decided to come out and play. Take advantage of the weather and go all out with bare legs, wearing sandals and a cute straw hat. This time I went for lighter toned accessories and a beige cardigan since it tends to get a bit colder when you sit in the shade. And if you have a vintage camera, make sure to use it, you never know when the lighting will be this great again.

SPRING TRENDS: colour blocking

Colour blocking was on trend last year and it's back again this spring.

*For those who don't know what colour blocking is, it's when you wear 2+ solid blocks of colour in your outfit - pretty self explanatory.

I'm not the most confident with wearing bright colours but I found a way of getting used to this trend and easing it into spring from winter. Wearing darker blocks of colour is a less obvious, more subtle way of colour blocking your outfits and here is an example that I wore on Monday:
1) Maroon jumper with zips on the arm seams from my uncle's shop in Korea.
2) Dark teal bobble beret from Accessorize.
3) Black brogue ankle boots from Newlook.
4) Dark teal bodycon skirt from H&M and the colour of it almost perfectly matches my hat.
5) Mustard ankle socks - my mum's. I wear these over my tights with about an inch poking over the top of my boots. These socks are really what completes my colour blocking outfit.
6) Thick grey tights from Primark.
7) Navy scarf from Burberry.

The colours I went for in my outfit were darker shades of primary colours but you can go for any combination of colours. I think Jenn from clothesencounters actually did a video on colour blocking with primary colours.

*BTW I didn't steal the idea from Jenn, it was a coincidence actually that I was using primary colours at all and I thought I might make a post on it since I already had the outfit planned out.
