OUTFIT: A Cactus Among the Pumpkins

This post is kinda overdue since I went to the Victoria Miro gallery a couple weeks ago but better late than never. The weather in London is killing me with barely any sun and a weird humidity. So this is what I wore in 20 degree weather with a denim jacket and it was pretty much weather perfect - not too cold and not too hot.
Top The Whitepepper (link here) // Culottes Zara // Clutch The Whitepepper // Watch Casio

If you're around in London, I'd definitely recommend going to see 'Yayoi Kusama: All the Eternal Love I Have for the Pumpkins & Chandelier of Grief' exhibition (link here). The mirrored rooms are completely mesmerising. The only tip I would give to you is that you get very little time in the rooms since they only let 2 people in at a time, so be camera ready when they let you in.
I found this top in The Whitepepper's sample sale for £10. Definitely keep an eye on their instagram or facebook page for any other upcoming sample sales because you can get a lot of their clothing for much cheaper there (e.g. this top is still available on their online website but for £20).
I have been really getting into culottes lately. They're super comfortable and high waisted culottes seem to make me look taller, which is always a plus. My friend literally looked so surprised when she saw me stating that I looked weirdly a lot taller than usual. I think pairing the culottes with platform boots probably helped in the height department as well.

This summer in London is sucking so far weather-wise and apparently it's not forecasted to go above 24 degrees for the rest of the summer. So let's pray that the forecasts are wrong and that I will be blessed with some sunlight soon.

OUTFIT: Double Up, It's Simple

This was my last outfit of summer 2015 (sob sob), and I kept it easy breezy with double denim. The denim shorts and jacket is one of my favourite combos and so easy to play around with. This particular outfit was tailored for a friend's late birthday party in the evening (think casual drinks, good music and catching up with friends), so I dressed up the double denim with a black, off the shoulder crop top, showing off a bit of skin and the best parts of a lace bra.

I'm sorry I look so miserable in these photos - I have RBF (for those of you who don't know, RBF stands for 'resting bitch face') and I forgot to remember to smile, oops. For now, let's pretend I was deliberately aiming for the moody wannabe model vibe.

Also excuse the blurriness in some of the photos; blame it on my inexperience of using self timer and climbing over mounds of clothes to get into the right poses within ten seconds (hallelujah for cropping).

NEW IN/OUTFIT: Spring Fuzzball

I'm so happy with my recent purchase from H&M: this super soft fuzzy cropped jumper. Yes, this jumper was on sale for only £5! After deliberating over whether to buy a size XS or S (which meant I tried on both a ridiculous number of times), I decided that an XS was too form fitting for my taste and I find that fuzzy jumpers that are too tight can unfortunately make you look bulky.

Jumper H&M (link HERE in pink) // Skirt Korea
I was planning on wearing it with a pair of black skinny jeans but unfortunately, none of my jeans fit at the moment (I'm blaming the Freshers' 15), so I settled for a plaid skirt instead, which actually turned out to be more spring-appropriate with the base colour being yellow.

Sorry for the lack of shoes and other accessories but this blog post wasn't actually planned. This post originally came from an instagram photo that I took, so please excuse the low quality iPhone photos.

I hope y'all are having a great Easter break (hopefully not as revision-filled as mine) and I don't know when my next blog post will be, but until then, feel free to follow me on other social platforms that I tend to keep more upadated.

NEW IN / OUTFIT: Let’s Rock & Roll, Babydoll

This outfit was from a while ago when the temperature was in the low 20s (Celsius, not Farenheit) – weirdly warm for the end of October, so I thought I better post it before the weather gets any colder in London and this outfit becomes completely irrelevant.
Normally, babydoll dresses aren’t that flattering on me and too girly for my taste, but this one was a winner with the cut back (which isn’t too low, so no worrying about bra straps showing) and being the perfect length, which is rare to find for my height. Oh, and did I mention I bought it in the sale for £5!
Dress Funk Rock // Denim jacket East End Thrift Store

I toughened it up with my now not-so-new black ankle boots (a replacement for my old ones from eBay that literally broke), black bag with studs and a denim jacket. To be honest, the jacket wasn’t 100% to my liking and I would have probably preferred a more cropped jacket but it was the best option I had.

Boots H&M
I’m sorry disappearing for over a month; I’ve had a load of crazy going on. I’m actually typing this up on the tube on the way to university because I have no time otherwise. I’ll try and make a separate blog post updating anyone who’s interested on my life (anybody? no? well I’ll make it anyway for my own satisfaction).
Until then, I hope y’all are doing well and not stressing too much over work/school/uni etc. If you ever need someone to talk to, hit me up on my tumblr or ask.fm.

OUTFIT: Goodbye Summer

This will probably the last summer outfit I post this year as we start heading into Autumn (although the weather this week in London has been sunny and fab).
Crop Top H&M // Shorts Charity Shop (originally Topshop Boutique) // Maxi Dress Time Square Underground Mall // Boots Edae Market
I  had to layer this sheer maxi dress over some plain black crop top and shorts because I didn't bring a slip dress with me on holiday, but I think I managed to make it work. The dress is the perfect length, which is rare considering how short I am, and I absolutely love it. It's pretty unique and I'm so glad I bought it in Korea.
We shot this outfit probably on one of the most scorching days when we were in Seoul. The breeze helped out a bit but mostly just blew my hair all over my face so we were constantly looking for shade. But, admittedly, I'll miss this Sun when Autumn/Winter fully settles in.

OUTFIT: Thumbs Up

The Ihwa Mural Village had the perfect backdrop for this outfit, and I think the colours compliment the outfit well.
Crop Top Asos // Shorts H&M // Shirt Aquascutum // Boots Edae Market

Watch Edae Market (Casio)
I've wanted these shorts since H&M first brought them out but I got lucky enough and managed to find them in the sale section in Seoul! I changed into these as soon as I bought them because they were so light and breezy and comfortable - all a must for hot and humid weather in Seoul.

The only problem I have with them is that they look a lot like nightwear so they're hard to style. I tied a shirt around my waist to only have a peek of the lace showing through, and also to cover my stomach because the top was a bit too cropped. The weather to wear them in London has unfortunately passed so I've given up on styling them and I'm wearing them as PJs at the moment.

Thank you to Carrie for taking these shots :-)

OUTFIT: I Am A Seouler

Shirt H&M // Shorts Gwanghwamun station // Shoes Edae Market

This outfit is probably the closest I'll get to dressing like someone who actually lives in Seoul. I found that a lot of people in Seoul wear a shirt+trousers+clutch: very classy but somehow they made it casual as well. Personally I couldn't stand the heat in trousers, so I went for these shorts I picked up at a store in Gwanghwamun station.
Clutch Myeongdong street stall
And I managed to pick up this super cool holographic clutch for only 10 000 (~$10/£5.90) at a closing down sale (anyone who knows me well knows I love anything holographic).

BY THE WAY, I'm actually selling these shorts for pretty cheap over at Depop. My Depop username is 'imblanc' so please check out what I'm selling.

OUTFIT: The Palace Grounds

Top H&M // Playsuit H&M // Boots Korea (Edae)

I thought a trip to the Gyeongbokgung Palace would also be an opportune time to shoot my outfit, since the palace grounds provided a great back drop. I went for an easy playsuit and a light crop top to cover my shoulders and stop them from burning/tanning in the sun.

The nude/beige boots are a recent purchase and I thought would be more appropriate than sandals, as the ground was covered with a thin layer of sand. They give me some extra needed height and theoretically should lengthen my legs.
Necklace Forever21 (yes, it annoys me that my necklace is off centre)
I've been very minimalistic with all my jewellery as Seoul is super humid, making me feel sticky and gross, so I could use as little jewellery to skin contact as possible.
I bought this playsuit a year or two ago and it was the greatest bargain. I think I got it in the sale for around £2.99 and it's been an absolute dream this holiday, being very light and airy.
An obligatory drink break. There was no air conditioning in the palace grounds and the blazing sun was melting me.
Top Monki // Dress ZaraI // Shoes H&M // Bag Korea (Edae)
This was Carrie's outfit of the day. Be sure to keep an eye on her new youtube channel (HERE), as she will be posting Korea vlogs and possibly an outfits video in the near future.

OUTFIT: It's Not Just Black and White

Vest top H&M // Shorts Charity shop find (originally Topshop Boutique) // Shirt H&M // Flatform Sandals Stiu

I planned this outfit with my cousin and somehow I unintentionally ended up looking like I was wearing a playsuit - I guess the matching fabrics of my top and shorts blended well together. All of the pieces were lightweight and flowy, which stopped me overheating in 34°C weather.

Ring from a friend // Watch Casio // Bracelet UO
I also found the most perfect pair of flatform sandals in a small store in Hongdae. They weren't cheap but they're pretty unique and I've had loads of compliments on them so far. Because the rest of the outfit is very monochrome, these sandals stand out more and the ring also adds a green accent, along with the shoes.

And of course the compulsory frappuccino for hot summer days.

OUTFITS: leg tattoos & stripes

These photos are from about 2 weeks ago when the weather in London was so lovely (unfortunately we're back to clouds and rain atm), so my cousin and I took advantage of the sun and put together an outfit featuring a recent DIY.

(click on the photo for details on each piece)

Excuse the cat face and yes I have slightly ombre-ed my hair again.
My cousin made me some tattoo tights so I will put up a post on how to DIY some soon; but they're pretty simple to make.

My cousin's outfit:

Cardigan Uniqlo // Dress Uniqlo // Socks Uniqlo // Shoes Vintage

These were all shot in the new house which still isn't quite finished yet, hence the roughed up flooring. But I really like the white walls and the lighting was fabulous - barely had to edit any of these photos in that sense. The house should be finished within a week or two and I just hope that even after putting in all the furniture, I'll still have a bit of white wall to shoot against.

SPRING TRANSITION: dodgy weather

Spring finally seems to have come around in London, but even so, the weather keeps flicking back and forth between sunny days and miserable clouds and rain. So I've come up with 2 similar outfits so that y'all are prepared for whatever weather. I've kept most of the key pieces in both outfits but switched some of the accessories so that you're weather appropriate.

I chose this dress so that you're dressing for spring with the floral pattern but are still maintain some elements from the winter season so that you're not jumping straight into spring but are easing yourself into it.

This is Spring?
This outfit is for those days where it's pretty cloudy outside and you might feel a bit silly going bare legs and wearing super bright colours. Put on a pair of tights and a lightweight scarf to make sure you stay warm. I opted for black accessories to match the weather but put on a light wash denim jacket to break up the black and stop you from looking too gloomy. (Oh and you can't forget an umbrella - not in London at least!)

This is Spring!
This is Spring! by iampiggy
This is Spring!
For those days when the sun has finally decided to come out and play. Take advantage of the weather and go all out with bare legs, wearing sandals and a cute straw hat. This time I went for lighter toned accessories and a beige cardigan since it tends to get a bit colder when you sit in the shade. And if you have a vintage camera, make sure to use it, you never know when the lighting will be this great again.

STYLING: Dungarees

Continuing on from my last post, I've created 2 sets on how I would style dungarees depending on the season, or should I say weather (considering that spring seems to mean nothing here in London. It's the end of march and it's started snowing again!).

I thought this would be a great summer outfit - totally reminds me of my childhood in the 90s and makes me super nostalgic. But to keep things from being too childish, I though a bandeau would be nice to wear under the dungaree dress to subtly show a bit of skin. And if you live somewhere very hot it would keep you much cooler than an extra layer like a t-shirt. Oh, and the jelly sandals seem to be an upcoming trend; I've seen them both on Asos and Topshop online so far.

But for now, I'll have to make do with an outfit similar to this one. I have been wearing my dungarees with a thick knit jumper, a pair if tights with some over the knee socks layered over and a winter coat.

I hope you liked the sets guys :-) .

STYLING: Black Ankle Boots

In this post on black ankle boots I said that I would make a post on outfits with black ankle boots so here they are:

Cool to the Max

This outfit I went for a grunge-y feel given by the chunky boots, muscle tee and Boy London beanie. I think this is perfect for summer or even winter if you throw on a cardigan/jacket (depending on your climate). It's a very simple look with a few gold accents and open to add a bit of your own personality.

chanel chic

This is much more chic and sophisticated. The lace up brogue boots give a put-together feel and the red lips and nails add a pop of colour to a monochrome colour scheme. The shirt and blazer add a formality but the red and velvet keeps it fashionable and so I think this would be great for formal events and occasions.
coffee at a festival

In the last outfit I wanted to include the Litas and also have a silver theme: to show more variety from my regular love for gold. I went for a casual look that I would consider myself (maybe when I'm a little older) wearing on a cold day in a cafe, drinking a skinny latte. But at the same time there are some tribal elements so I could definitely imagine somebody wearing this at a festival (again depending on the climate with or without the cardigan) and the platforms on the Litas would be super convenient in giving some height, (especially since I'm very short at 5"1).

I hope you liked these outfits and I would love to make posts of myself wearing these outfits and hopefully when I move house I'll be able to have more space to take photos but until then I guess I'll be creating sets on polyvore.
